QUETTA, Feb 5 The Quetta city government and Jamaat-i-Islami took out two separate processions on Friday to mark the Kashmir day.
People taking part in the processions expressed solidarity with the Kashmiris and said Pakistanis would keep on extending moral and political support to the people of occupied Kashmir.
Provincial minister for education Tahir Mahmood, Commissioner of Quetta division Naseem Lehri and Hurriyat Conference leader for Azad Kashmir Mir Tahir Masood led the city government's procession.
Addressing the participants, Mr Mahmood and Mr Masood highlighted the struggle of Kashmiris against Indian forces.
They called upon the international community to convince the Indian leadership to implement the United Nations resolutions on Kashmir.
The Jamaat-i-Islami's procession was led by its provincial chief Abdul Matin Akhundzada.
Mr Akhundzada condemned Indian forces for the atrocities in occupied Kashmir and lauded the sacrifices rendered by Kashmir freedom fighters.
He criticised the PPP government and the PML-N leadership for their “lukewarm posture” on the Kashmir issue.
He said it was the responsibility of the government to force the United Nations to implement its resolutions on the Kashmir issue.
