JI raps Musharraf

Published October 2, 2010

GUJRANWALA, Oct 1 Jamaat-i-Islami chief Syed Munawar Hassan on Friday condemned former president Pervez Musharraf's statement calling for the army's constitutional role in the government.

He demanded that Musharraf should be brought back home and tried under Article 6 for twice abrogating the constitution.

Speaking at a rally taken out to express solidarity with Dr Aafia Siddiqui on GT Road, he held the government responsible for allowing the former president to leave the country with full protocol.

He criticised the government for failing to register protest with the US on drone strikes and in Dr Aafia case. He demanded that Dr Aafia should be brought back from the US at any cost. He urged the people to launch protest against the government policies.—Correspondent
