ISLAMABAD, Aug 27 Jamaat-i-Islami's Deputy Chief Senator Prof Khurshid Ahmad has alleged that some key players in the government and establishment are trying to lessen the logical implications of the July 31 judgment of the Supreme Court.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the senator said that hurdles were being placed in the trial of former president Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf.

He said Gen Musharraf should be tried under Article 6 for violating the Constitution. He said there was nothing that parliament should do in the matter and the federal government could initiate proceedings against the general.

He said that Gen Musharraf should not be forgiven for the crimes he committed, adding that all those who had helped the dictator in his illegal actions should also be made accountable.
