PESHAWAR, Nov 6 Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority shut down three illegal FM radio stations in different areas of Swabi district, said a press release issued here on Friday.

These FM radios were operating in madressahs and were instigating terrorism and extremism among their students and public.

The press release said regional general manager, Pemra NWFP, Mohammad Farooq had warned all persons involved in illegal FM radio transmissions to stop their broadcasts immediately otherwise action would be initiated against them.

The owners ignored the warning and Pemra staff had to shut three FM radio stations. Sources, however, said that a number of illegal FM radio stations were still operational in the district.
