ABBOTTABAD, April 13: A 300-bed hospital, opened by Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah on Saturday, has begun providing free medical treatment to the patients.

The executive director of the Shahina Jamil Trust Hospital, a teaching hospital of the Frontier Medical College, Dr Shahina Jamil, said on Sunday that it would provide free health care to the patients, except for cancer.

Talking to newsmen at the press club, she said the hospital was being constructed at a cost of Rs110 million.

She said the hospital had all the essential departments equipped with modern equipment and laboratories working round-the-clock. It had five operation theatres, recovery rooms, intensive and coronary care unites, and emergency department, she said.

Dr Jamil and former health director-general, Dr A.J. Khan said treatment, investigation, surgeries and medicines would be provided free of cost.
