GILGIT, July 23 Chief Court Judge Haji Sahib Khan on Friday sent two officials and a former chairman of District Council to jail on judicial remand, court sources told Dawn.

The court sources said that the former chief officer of District Council, Mamtaz Khan, manager Industrial Development Bank, Mera Jan, and former chairman Gilgit District Council Qalbe Ali were booked in Rs5.7 million bamk loan case.

Earlier they were produced before the accountability court seeking their transit remand to transport them to Rawalpindi for further proceeding.

The Accountability Court allowed the transit remand. But the accused challenged the AC order in the chief court.

The court suspended the orders of the accountability court and sent the three accused to jail and asked the local accountability court to hear the case.

The court officials said that the former District Council chairman Qalb-e-Ali had obtained Rs5.7 million loan from Industrial Development Bank and disbursed among the members. The loan could not be returned and case was forwarded to NAB.
