DADU, Aug 15 The water flow in the Indus at the Larkana-Sehwan embankment reached the red level on Sunday, posing a threat to Dadu city.

The water level was only one foot below the danger mark near the villages of Shaikh Gulab and Siyal.

Vehicular traffic on the Dadu-Moro road has been stopped.

DCO of Dadu Mohammad Iqbal Memon said that efforts were being made to protect Dadu, and the administration and army were working round the clock.

According to irrigation engineer Habibullah Chandio, the water level at the Dadu-Moro Bridge has risen to 131.6RL whereas the level of the bridge is 132RL.

He said that the situation at the LS embankment was dangerous because water flow was continuing and mounting pressure on on the embankment.

The irrigation department has deployed heavy machinery and staff for patrolling the embankment.

Heavy police contingents have been posted at the embankment and the Dadu-Moro road.

Meanwhile, Bilwalpur, Duree Dero and Shikargah have been submerged by flood water.
