LAHORE, June 14 The Jamaat-i-Islami has demanded the Chief Justice of Pakistan take notice of the 'prolonged' army operation in Malakand division that has resulted in displacement of over 3.5 million people.
Speaking at a fundraiser for the displaced people here on Sunday, NWFP Jamaat amir Sirajul Haq, former Karachi nazim Naimatullah Khan and others said the masses had laid down sacrifices for the cause of free judiciary and now the CJP should take notice of the losses the displaced people were facing for the last 50 days.
Challenging the rulers' stance that the war being fought in Malakand and tribal areas was of Pakistan's, they said if it was true then why the US was financing this fight though Washington itself was in the grip of the worst economic crisis of its history.
They said earlier President Pervez Musharraf killed innocent people at Jamia Hafsa by claiming that foreigners had taken refuge in the madressah, though not a single such foreigner was presented before the media or the public after “conquering” the religious school.
Now, they said, the same propaganda was being spread about the tribal areas.
