DADU, May 10 Water supply to half of the town remains suspended for 45 days due to construction of a drain network.
The affected areas include Manzoorabad, Najam colony, Masan Nako, Mallah chowk, workshop, Chhano Shahabad, New bus stand, Johi More and Pir Bux colony.
People believe that the shortage is artificial. On the other hand, drain water continued to flow into Dadu Canal and people are consuming contaminated water causing increase in cases of gastroenteritis and other water-borne diseases.
Naban Khan, resident of Gharibabad, complained that the taluka municipal administration collects water tax regularly but, in return, supplies water unfit for human consumption. He said lower staff of the TMA were not doing their job.
Dadu Taluka Nazim Najeebullah Panhwar said that there were major complaints about supply of contaminated water supply for the last 45 days.
He said that drainage scheme was launched which suspended water supply to major areas.
