Bookie, aide arrested in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD, Sept 5 An alleged international bookie and his employee were arrested here on Saturday night.

They were identified as Shafiq alias Shobi Sheikh and Nadeem Hussain.

SHO of Sakhi Pir station Khalil Shah said that during a raid on a flat in Quaidabad area of Liaquat colony, 12 wireless telephone sets, mobile pones, DSL devices, two computers, a decoder and a TV set were seized.

He said that the accused also served as a commission agent for bookies in Dubai involved in betting on horse races and cricket matches.

Shafiq earlier worked in Jamshoro and had been indicted in a case, he added.

He recently set up his business in Hyderabad and ran his business through telephone and internet.—Staff Correspondent
