RAWALPINDI, Oct 16 An anti-terrorism court here on Friday dismissed the bail petition of three men accused of being involved in the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto after their lawyer did not turn up in the court.

Aitzaz Shah, Hasnain Gul and Rafaqat Hussain had sought bail on the ground that the federal government had already termed the initial police investigation inconclusive and initiated reinvestigation into the case through the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

The ATC-I Judge, Malik Akram Awan, however, dismissed the application after their lawyer Naseer Tanoli did not appear in the court.

Talking to this reporter, Advocate Tanoli said the bail petition was at the stage of notice and it was not fixed for arguments.

He said the plea would be filed again with a request to the court to give them an opportunity for arguments.

Separately, the court remanded two suspected terrorists in the physical custody of Shalimar police for seven days. The suspects were arrested in Islamabad on Thursday with suicide vests and explosive materials.

The police had demanded 15 days' physical remand of Mobashir Mehboob, resident of Gujar Khan, and Hafiz Abdul Aziz of Mansehra, saying they were to be interrogated about their accomplices and targets.
