Benazir Bhutto Road to remain closed

RAWALPINDI, Feb 21 Benazir Bhutto Road will be closed for security of three rallies and a public gathering in connection with the by-election for NA-55 on Monday.

A handout issued from the office of the city traffic police on Sunday said the main artery would be closed from 2pm to midnight. In this regard, a plan has also been chalked out for the motorists to ensure smooth fellow of traffic.

According to the plan, motorists will use Rawal Road, Airport Road, Katchery Chowk and the Mall for reaching Saddar. Likewise, they will use Chandni Chowk, Saidpur Road, Asgahr Mall and Eidgah for going towards the inner city areas.

However, access to Banazir Bhutto Hospital will be given to patients and their attendants during the period.

Over 6,000 police personnel including those from the elite force, traffic wardens and non-operational staff will be deployed in the area to ensure security and smooth flow of traffic. In this regard, contingents of police were also demanded from rural areas of Rawalpindi.—Staff Reporter
