27 suspects held in Kohat operation

KOHAT, Dec 11 Security forces arrested 27 suspects during search operation in various parts of the district and seized huge cache of explosives from their possession on Friday.

Security forces cordoned off a large area on the Rawalpindi road early in the morning and carried out search for the arrest of militants and tribesmen who had illegally crossed into Kohat from Orakzai Agency recently.

The operation which lasted for seven hours was part of the security plan for the Muharram, officials said. The areas which were combed included Kohat's south-eastern parts - Kharmatu, Kot, Orakzai Banda, Dhoda Sharif, Tor Dhand and Noor Elahi Colony.

The forces seized 30 kilograms of explosive material in the shape of remote-controlled improvised explosive devices and 50 electric and non-electric detonators which were destroyed in the firing range later on.

MAN KILLED A man killed his brother over some domestic dispute in College Town area.

The Saddar police said that Munib Shah exchanged hot words with his brother Moazam Shah and shot him dead. Police arrested the accused and seized a 30-bore pistol from his possession. A case against the accused was registered.

CHILDREN HOSPITAL The commissioner Kohat Division has ordered the health department officials to address problems of patients at the Women and Children Hospital.

Commissioner Khalid Khan Umerzai paid a visit to the hospital along with Deputy Superintendent Hussain Jan, Tehsil Municipal Officer Noor Daraz and president paramedics Rashid Bokhari.

He inspected the wards and emergency department. He inquired about facilities being provided to patients and ordered the tehsil municipal officer and doctors to ensure better patient care at the hospital.
