ISLAMABAD Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar on Tuesday took suo motu notice on a reported decision by a jirga to give a seven-year-old  girl in marriage to a 15-year-old boy to settle a dispute between two warring groups and summoned a report in a week's time from the District Police Officer (DPO) Shikarpur.
On Sunday a jirga in Lal Khan Jatoi village in Kot Shahoo police station's limits (Shikarpur) had ordered to give the minor girl in marriage to a teenager boy over kari-kari.
Reportedly tribal elders Maashi Khan Jatoi and Bajhi Khan Jatoi convened the jirga, which declared one Jhando Jatoi guilty of having illicit relations with the wife of Saindad Jatoi
Subsequently the jirga ordered Gajjan Jatoi to give his seven-year-old daughter Hajul in marriage to 15-year-old Shahoo Jatoi, son of complainant Saindad Jatoi, as compensation on behalf of his brother Jhando Jatoi and pay Rs100,000 as fine.
Later, nikah was solemnised and the minor bride was sent to her husband's house.
