Tannery zone in Sialkot

SIALKOT, May 22 The UNDP and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) have agreed to provide technical assistance for setting up of a tannery zone in Sialkot to reduce risks of disasters and industrial hazards relating to leather sector.

Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) president Mohammad Ishaq Butt stated this while talking to newsmen here on Saturday.

He urged the NDMA to provide assistance for installation of effluent treatment plant (ETP) in tannery zone to conserve environment, water and other natural resources.

NDMA director Ameer Mohauddin assured to provide technical feasibility for installation of ETP in the zone.
