THATTA, March 16 Sindh Minister for Culture and Tourism Sassui Palijo has said that the Pakistan People's Party wants to put democracy on right track and the decision to reinstate deposed chief justice of Supreme Court Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry is a step in that direction.

Speaking at a press conference at the press club here on Monday, she said that the PPP had rendered unparalleled sacrifices for restoration of democracy and ridding the country of dictatorial rule.

Saying that today was a day of great achievement, she added that the time was appropriate now to burry the doctrine of necessity.

Ms Palijo asked for how long the country would continue to depend on foreign countries.

She lauded President Asif Ali Zardari for taking a timely decision and said that it was as per the will and wishes of Benazir Bhutto.

Ms Palijo said that the PPP government would complete its term and strive to resolve the remaining issues, including grant of autonomy to provinces, abolition of concurrent list and the challenging task to rein in terrorism.

She said that maintaining law and order situation was one of the major tasks for the government and she was confident that it would take wise decision in the interest of the federating units of the country.

She said that the PPP would continue to keep the doors for political reconciliation open.
