MINGORA, Jan 7 A girl was killed and six persons were injuries as fierce clashes erupted between security forces and militants in Koza Bandai and Dheri areas of tehsil Kabal in restive Swat valley on Wednesday.

The clashes took place after militants ambushed a security forces convoy in the area. The troops retaliated and repulsed militants' attack. However, no casualty was reported in the attack.

The troops also targeted militant hideouts in Koza Bandai and Dherai area areas. One of the shells hit the house of Aurangzeb killing his daughter and injuring three other inmates.

Another shell hit a house in Khwazakhela area injuring three people including a woman. The injured were rushed to Saidu Sharif District Headquarters Hospital.

MORE BODIES FOUND Three more bullet-riddled bodies were found in different areas of Swat. So far 36 people have been killed in acts of violence in Swat valley till the advent of the New Year.

The first bullet-riddled body was found in Tanchkai area of tehsil Kabal. The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained.

Another person Shuja Mohammad was killed by unidentified persons in Parrai area of Barikot while Bahre Karam of Aghal area of tehsil Matta was also gunned down by unidentified attackers. The motive behind the killing was yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, Inayatullah, son of Swat DRO Sultanat Khan, was kidnapped by unidentified persons on Tuesday from Charbagh and was shifted to unspecified location.

Curfew was imposed in Kanju and Matta for indefinite period. Helicopter Gunships flew at lower altitude in various areas of Swat on Wednesday.

Our Correspondent from Khar adds A woman was killed and four others sustained injuries when a mortar shell hit their house in Nawagai area of Bajaur tribal region on Wednesday, residents said.

Local people said that a mortar shell hit a house in Nawagai area in which one woman was killed and four others received injuries. The wounded people were shifted to the hospital where condition of two of them was stated to be critical.

Meanwhile, unidentified persons torched abandoned house of a prominent tribal elder Dr Ubaidullah in Inayet Kali on Tuesday night. The family has already vacated the residence and shifted to other area owing to insecurity.

Planes continued air strikes and bombed hideouts of militants in Damadola and others pockets of the troubled region where military had launched full scale operation in August last. Jetfighters targeted hideouts of militants in Damadola, Mulla Syed, Banda and Darra areas. Witnesses said that several bombs were dropped but no casualty was reported so far. Security forces also targeted suspected positions with artillery and mortars.

Our Correspondent from Ghalanai adds Four people including two children were wounded and two houses destroyed in mortar attack in Haleemzai area of Mohmand tribal region on Tuesday night.

Local people said that militants attacked the area and several shells landed in residential area, damaging two houses. Several cattle were also killed in the attack. Security forces retaliated with artillery and mortars.
