KOHAT, Jan 2 The district police have sought help of the army while finalising security plan for the processions of 7th, 9th and 10th of Muharram here on Friday.
District Police Officer (DPO) Abdullah Khan, during a meeting, unveiled the security plan, according to which, seven imambargahs and eight mosques were declared sensitive where security would be tight. A toll-free telephone number (0922-9260122) had also been set up for helping people during any emergency.
The district had been divided into seven sectors where a DSP level officer would be in charge of security.
All sub-divisional police officers (SDPOs) were directed to collect data of illegal immigrants and displaced persons coming from Kurram, Orakzai, Waziristan, Darra Adamkhel and Frontier Region Kohat.
The Muharram processions would proceed in the cordoned-off area where police commandos, elite force, Frontier Constabulary and security officials in plain clothes would be on duty. The Frontier Corps personnel would also be deployed at rooftops on the routes of processions and hilltops of Kohat valley. —Correspondent
