HYDERABAD, Dec 31 The Institute of Sindhology, University of Sindh, on Wednesday organised an exhibition of rare photographs and paintings and letters of Benazir Bhutto at Benazir Bhutto Gallery of the institute.

Provincial minister for culture and tourism, Ms Sassui Palijo and Sindh University vice chancellor, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui inaugurated the exhibition. A large number of scholars, educationists and students as well as people from different walks of life visited the exhibition.

As many as 170 rare photographs of Benazir Bhutto donated by her for the institute were displayed in the exhibition. The photographs are related to the time of her premiership and also visits of different countries and meetings with leaders of world like Yasir Arfat and Nelson Mandela etc.
More than 40 letters written to Benazir Bhutto by leaders of different countries were also displayed in the exhibition. Sixty paintings of Ms Bhutto by noted artists like Guljee, Mohammad Ali Bhatti, Fatah Halepoto, Saeed Mangi, Fatah Daudpota, Nusrat Mangi, Shahid Memon, Dr Zubeda Junejo and others were also displayed in the exhibition.

Speaking on the occasion, the provincial minister said that photographs of Benazir Bhutto displayed in the exhibition are very rare and unique. She said that Ms Bhutto was a great leader and inspiration for the youth, specially workers of the PPP. She said that Ms Bhutto always struggled for the masses and strived to resolve their problems.
She said that the University of Karachi and Sindh University in collaboration with Sindh government have established Benazir Bhutto chairs to conduct research on life, struggle and vision of Ms Bhutto.
She hoped that these chairs would fulfil their objectives and their research oriented work would be beneficial for the youth of the country.
She appreciated the exhibition organised by the Sindh University's Institute of Sindhology and said that this institute has proved that its working is unique when compared to other institutes.
Paying rich tribute to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Sindh University VC Mazharul Haq Siddiqui said that Shaheed Benazir Bhutto always paid attention to important matters.
He said that the exhibition comprising rare photographs and letters of Shaheed is very important and it reflects the multiple personality of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.
The exhibition would continue for a month.
