MULTAN, April 23: Sahiwal police have registered a case on the report of an Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) engineer against Sahiwal Tehsil Nazim and his 25 men on charges of threatening the Mepco officer after he disconnected power supply to three municipal facilities for recovery of Rs6.6 million dues.
According to a Mepco press statement, the power supply to the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) for water supply and streetlights, civil hospital (for water supply) and fire brigade was disconnected on April 22.
XEN Khawaja Aurangzeb, however, restored power supply to the civil hospital and the fire brigade due to their public importance.
The Mepco spokesman said that after disconnection, Nazim Rana Aamir Shehzad contacted the XEN by mobile phone and asked him to restore power supply.
However, the XEN asked him to pay the dues or contact the higher authorities.
“On this, the Nazim threatened him with dire consequences and later, at 9am, reached the XEN’s residence along with 25 men. By that time, police reached there on the request of the XEN and things remained under control”, the release said.
Meanwhile, Sahiwal Ghalla Mandi police have registered the case.—APP
