KARACHI, July 21 At least four seeded players suffered shock defeats in the National Ranking Snooker Cup at the Karachi Gymkhana on Tuesday.

Mohammad Asif Toba of Punjab toppled fourth seed Sharjeel Mahmood of the NWFP 4-1, the score being 71-36, 65-29, 36-62, 79-0, 62-14. This was Sharjeel's second defeat in four outings. Earlier, he went down 2-4 to Shadab Baig in the opener.

After losing three encounters in a row, former world amateur champion Mohammad Yousuf finally opened his account when he stunned seventh seed Naveen Perwani 4-3. The veteran came from two frames down to win 38-68, 39-68, 57-5, 59-54, 65-74, 51-40, 51-20.

In the third upset, Kamran Razzak was home 4-2 against fifth seed and former Pakistan No 1 Khurram Agha. Final scores were 70-39, 35-65, 65-60, 55-0, 33-74, 52-41.

In the last upset of the day, sixth seed Inam-ur-Rehman fell victim to Saqib Butt 1-4 (73-52, 76-20, 64-30, 47-57, 70-26).
