KARACHI, April 6 Brothers -- Aqeel and Jalil, Zuhair and Abbas together with Robin Das -- completed the men's singles quarter-final line-up on Monday in the Sindh Open ranking tennis championship at a local club.
Top seed Aqeel Khan registered a crushing 6-1, 6-1 victory over Mirpurkhas's Nawab Muzaffar, second seed Jalil Khan accounted for Mohammad Ali 6-4, 6-2, sixth seed Zuhair Raza had a 6-1, 6-0 short work of Sikander Hayat Khan, eighth seed Abbas Raza routed Asadullah Khan 6-4, 6-4 while seventh seed Robin inflicted 6-4, 6-3 defeat on Quetta's Shahbaz Khosa.
Three players namely Nomi Qamar, Vinod Das and Yasir Khan made it to the last eight on Sunday.
Aqeel is drawn to face Vinod at 12.00noon on Tuesday. In the other matches, Yasir is pitted against Zuhair, Abbas takes on Nomi while Robin meets Jalil.
The turn out in ladies singles has left much to be desired. According to organisers, only five women's have entered in the contest which is surprisingly played on pro-set.
