DHAKA, Oct 4 Karachi American School won the South Asia Inter-scholastic Association (SAISA) Volleyball tournament held here last week.

It was a fine achievement indeed by the Karachi school since the tournament is a prestigious annual event in which schools from New Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Dhaka, Katmandu, Colombo, Lahore and Karachi took part.

Lahore American School was beaten in the semi-final by Dhaka but later they beat the American Embassy School of Delhi to get third place and the bronze medal.

Karachi American school faced the host, American International School Dhaka, who they beat in a tense five-set contest. At one stage Dhaka school was serving for the match in the fourth set, leading 2 sets to 1 and the scores were 24-21.

Karachi then recovered well and won the set 29-27 and eventually went on to win the fifth set and the trophy. The final scores were 20-25, 25-20, 23-25, 29-27, 15-13. Rocky Khan scored 6 of Karachis last 8 points in the final with all of them being kills.

Karachi American School was represented by 'Rocky' Abdul Rehman Khan (Grade 12), Sheraz Oberoi (Grade 12), Mohammed Sardar (Grade 12), Adil Oberoi Ikram (Grade 12), Faisal Nawaz (Grade 11), Inho Chung (Grade 10), Omar Yousafzai (Grade 10), Ali Hussain (Grade 10), Zohaib Essa (Grade 10) and Sher Saifi (Grade 10).—Agencies
