LAHORE The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), currently looking to hire a foreign coach for its national team, interviewed a Dutch coach Michel Van Den Heuvel.

Though no PHF official is willing to confirm this as yet, there have been reports going around that some other foreign coaches, including Australia's Bary Dancer, is also interested in taking on the coaching assignment of the Pakistan team.

The PHF has also interviewed Paul Lissek for the job but both parties could not settle the terms and condition to make any headway on the matter.

The main hurdle in hiring a foreign coach is security as the foreigners have shown their reservations about coming to Pakistan amid the terrorist activity scare. So as the coach will have to stay in the country for a long time in order to hold training camps here, there seems to be no solution to the problem.

The PHF is interested in finding a good foreign coach so that they are able to field a strong team in the forthcoming Asian Games, to be held in China in November this year.

The Asian Games happen to be the main target of the current PHF hierarchy, which had set its eyes on it since taking charge some two years back.
