NEW DELHI, Oct 11 Pakistan's players failed to overcome the last-16 hurdle in the men's doubles at the Commonwealth Games squash event on Monday.

Pakistan's top combination of Aamir Atlas Khan and Farhan Mahboob, seeded 10th in the event, lost their last-16 match to second seeded Australian pair of Stewart Boswell and David Palmer who recorded a straight-set 11-4, 11-5 win in 42 minutes.

In quarter-finals, the Australian pair will face surprise ninth seeded Scottish opponents Lyall Paterson and Chris Small, who dispatched Michael Fiteni and Bradley Hindle of Malta registering a 11-10, 11-9 win.

Meanwhile, third seeds Peter Barker and Daryl Selby of England crushed another 12th seeded Pakistani duo of Yasir Butt and Danish Atlas Khan registering an 11-6, 11-8 win in 35 minutes. Barker and Selby will take on fifth seeds Alan Clyne and Harry Leitch of Scotland in quarters. The Scottish pair dispatched 11th seeded local pair of Sandeep Jangra and Harinder Pal Sandhu by an 11-5, 11-5 score.
