National Hockey starts next month

LAHORE The 57th National Hockey Championship will be held at the Hockey Club of Pakistan from April 3 to 18.

The championship was to be held in December last year, but was deferred as part of the national team preparations for the World Cup which was held in India, recently.

Ten departmental teams namely PIA, NBP, SSGC, HBL, Wapda, Army, Navy, Port Qasim, PAF and KESC will take part in the championship. No province could qualify for the national event from the tray championship, which was held in Sialkot.

The championship will be played on round robin league. The players born after Jan 1, 1979 shall be eligible to take part in the championship. The championship will be played according to the regulations issued by the FIH and enforced by PHF.
