ISLAMABAD, Oct 13 A record number of entries have been received in the Subh-e-Nau National Clay Court Tennis Championship at the Pakistan Tennis Federation Complex on Tuesday.

More than 190 players are competing in the six-day event and sixty-four matches were decided in the men's singles and boys' junior U-17 event.

Top seed Aqeel Khan beat Ahmed Chowdhry to start his quest for the title. Asim Shafik, Jalil Khan, Yasir Khan and Tanveer Ashiq allso reached next round of the men's singles.

In the boys U-17, 23 matches were decided on the first day.

Hard court champion Heera Ashiq, Basit Gabol and Ahmed Chowdhry were among others to qualify for the next round.

Ladies singles, men's doubles and boys' juniors' U-13 matches will start from Wednesday. Finals of the championship will be played on Sunday.
