KU, NED top groups in basketball

KARACHI, March 25 Karachi University and NED University emerged group champions in the Pakistan Day Inter-universities basketball tournament at Arambagh floodlit court on Wednesday.

The KU completed their group A engagements when they notched up 55-33 victory over Iqra University to register second win. Agha Ibrahim was the only player to score in double figure (10). He was ably assisted by Adnan Ali (9), M. Shabbar (8) and Ale Mustafa (7).

Hasan Ali (12), Saqib (9) and Ali Saleem (7) scored for the losers.

In the other match, NED University inflicted 35-11 defeat on Biztek University to top group B with two straight wins. Umer Baig scored highest 14 points followed by Faisal Farooq (10). Salman scored 7 for losers.

Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) finished runner up in group B and are to be joined by the winner of Iqra-Greenwich Universities in the last four.

Both the semi-finals will be played on Thursday.
