KARACHI, Sept 12 Daniyal Ahsan hit a fine half-century as KESC defeated A.O. Blues by 21 runs in a Group 'C' match of the 22nd Aga Khan Gymkhana State Life Ramazan Festival Twenty20 cricket tournament at the AKG Ground here on Friday.

Man-of-the-match Daniyal was the mainstay of KESC's total of 158 for five by striking four fours and one six in a 43-ball 55. Sarfraz Ahmed, understudy to regular Pakistan wicket-keeper/batsman Kamran Akmal, scored a useful 35 off 24 deliveries. His knock included three fours and a six.

Veteran all-rounder Arif Mahmood slammed a brace of boundaries and one six in an unbeaten 28 off 24 balls. Slow left-armer Noman Ali took two wickets.

A.O. Blues, in reply, made 137 for seven. Left-handed opening batsman Aqeel Anjum contributed 57 off 44 balls with seven fours and one six while Owais Ahmed Rehmani chipped in with a 31-ball knock of 35 that was laced with three fours and a six.

Spinner Akbar-ur-Rehman claimed two for 11.
