KARACHI, Feb 23 Sir Syed and Karachi Universities advanced into the semi-finals of the Inter-university Zone G basketball championship registering contrasting victories over their opponents at the NED University gymnasium on Tuesday.

Sir Syed University recovered from 15-17 down at half time to post 43-28 point victory over Iqra University.

Ali Mazhar, Mohsin and Taha shone for the winners with 14, 13 and 10 points respectively. Mohammad Ali Saleem scored eight for losers.

In the other match, Karachi University outplayed Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences 91-15. The KU led 52-4 at half time.

Akmal Jamil (15), Agha M. Ibrahim and Idrees 12 apiece, were the main contributors for winners. Munir Ahmed scored six for losers.

Wednesday's fixtures

NED University v Sir Syed University 11.00am; Karachi University v Greenwich University 1.00pm (semi-finals).
