Hyderabad to host National Karate

ISLAMABAD, Feb 26 The 18th National Junior and Senior Karate Championships is scheduled to be held at Hyderabad Club — Niaz Stadium from March 6.

The Honorary Secretary of the PKF, Mohammad Jehangir told Dawn on Thursday “The championship is aimed at gearing new talent while four top contenders will be selected for the 1st Asian Martial Arts Games scheduled to be held in Bangkok, Thailand starting from April 25.”

Jehangir informed that all the affiliated units of the PKF — Wapda, Army, Railways, Police, Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, NWFP and Islamabad would participate in the two-day championship.

Competitions will be held in Individual Kumite, under 50Kg, under 55Kg, under 60 Kg, under 67Kg, under 75Kg, under 84Kg, above 84Kg, team Kumite, Individual Kata, team Kata, juniors (U-16), Individual Kumite, under 50Kg, under 60Kg and Individual Kata categories.
