Hockey course begins

KARACHI, June 11 A high-profile hockey coaching course under the auspices of Sindh Sports Ministry commenced here at the Hockey Club of Pakistan on Friday with 20 participants from all over the province in attendance.

The course is a part of the Benazir Youth Development Program. Many former Olympians will be imparting lectures on the finer points of the game during the course.

Provincial Secretary Sports, Shoaib Siddiqui, while distributing sports kits among the participants, emphasized that the game of hockey needed to be popularized at the school and college level in order to regain the lost glory at the national level.

Ex-Olympian Iftikhar Syed and Sindh Hockey Association president Gulfraz also highlighted the importance of the course.—Agencies
