Federal Cup National Tennis starts

ISLAMABAD, Dec 30 A total of 27 matches in different categories were decided on the opening day of the Federal Cup National Ranking Tennis Championship at the Pakistan Tennis Complex here on Wednesday.

Top seed Aqeel Khan eliminated the upcoming Faizan Khurram from Lahore in straight sets 6-1, 6-3.

Fourth seed Tanvir Ashiq struggled hard to beat Hassan Riaz 6-1, 2-6, 6-0.

Rashid Malik defeated Gul Hamid 6-3, 6-3, while the fifth seed Asim Shafik beat Ahmed Aslam 6-2, 6-2.
