LAHORE, Nov 17 Former secretary of the Pakistan Judo Federation Mahmood Navid slammed the performance of the federation and claimed the game was touching the lowest ebb, due to non-technical officials at the helm.

“Pakistan judo players won eleven medals at the South Asian Games in 2006,” Mahmood, who was the secretary at that time, said in a press statement.

He added, the elections of the federation were held in December 2006 in which Col. Rana Shujaat Ali was elected as the president while he was elected as the secretary.

“However, certain elements tried to derail the results of these elections and got an ad hoc committee imposed by the Pakistan Sports Board,” he said.

The ad hoc committee was imposed as the elections were termed as invalid due to improper representation of Punjab since there was a dispute in the Punjab Judo Association.

The ad hoc committee succeeded in electing its own candidates and later instead of developing the game in the country, the officials diverted their interest towards minting money.
