ISLAMABAD, July 18 The secretary of the Pakistan Football Federation, Lt Col Ahmed Yar Khan Lodhi, has said the federation would write a letter to the Ministry of Sports to inquire why football is not included in Pakistan contingent for the Asian Games.
“I am really shocked. We want to avoid any delay in this matter and will write a letter to the Ministry of Sports,” he said on Sunday.
“I would say that football must have been included in the Pakistan contingent for the Asian Games. The authorities should have put on the list those disciplines in which the country has chances of winning medals along with those which have good future (like football),” he added.
The ex-secretary general of the PFF, Col Mujahidullah Tareen, said football was suffering in Pakistan due to incompetent people in the federation.
Mujahidullah, who is also the former captain of the national side, said that the present administration of the PFF had failed to improve the standard of the game in Pakistan. “Pakistan is at the last place among the eight countries of South Asia.”—APP
