ISLAMABAD, May 11 Four players Nasir Iqbal, Waqas Mehboob, Hamza Bukhari and Aurangzeb Mehmund cruised into the main round of the 7th COAS Squash Championship played at the Mushaf Squash Complex here on Monday.

Nasir Iqbal from the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has created a stir in the second qualifying round winning the day's opening fixture 3-2 by defeating Farzan Rashid from Punjab.

The 47-minute nail-biting decider saw Farzan giving a tough time to the emerging youngster Nasir.

The opening exchanges were tough, although Farzan took the first game winning it 7-11, he could not contain the weather of long rallies displayed by the 14-year-old Nasir.

Nasir took the second game, winning it 11-6 but in the third game Farzan stunned the youngster while playing some good drop shots winning it 8-11.

Nasir worked against his opponent on the court and started to build a winning game.

As Farzan seemed to tire Nasir stepped up on his pace and energetic moves to ultimately win the last two games 11-8 and 11-6.

In the day's second fixture, Waqas Mehboob from NWFP defeated Sheikh Saqib from Punjab by 3-1 in a four-game thriller.

Waqas has played well in the important fixture and dictated the rallies, winning the first two games 11-5, 11-7.

Saqib, however, displayed a controlled third game winning it 5-11.

Waqas instantly switched to an aggressive approach in the fourth game as he played some good drop shots in the final game winning it 11-5.

Meanwhile, in another fixture Hamza Bokhari from Punjab walloped Danish Atlas of PAF 3-0.

The last game of the day saw Aurangzeb Mehmund from Punjab defeating Adil Atlas 3-0 in a 30-minutes decider.
