Asian Games football: Pakistan to face Thailand today
LAHORE, Nov 6 Pakistan will try to defeat Thailand when the two sides face each other in group 'F' match of the 16th Asian Games' football event, which starts in Guangzhou, China, from Sunday.
The opening ceremony of the games will however be held on Nov 12.
The match, which is the seventh clash between both the countries and the first in under-23 football, will take place at the Huangpu Sports Centre in Guangzhou.
Pakistan has failed to score against Thailand in their last five matches after thrashing them 7-0 in 1960. All the five matches were won by Thailand.
Thailand is enjoying 108th place in the FIFA world rankings, announced on Oct 20, while Pakistan is at 169th place.
Sunday's match will also bring two Europeans in front of each other. Pakistan has the services of Graham Roberts while Thailand is enjoying the coaching of Bryan Robson.
In all, six matches will be played on Sunday.
Pakistan will play Maldives on Tuesday and Oman on Thursday.

Group 'D' Kuwait v India; Qatar v Singapore.
Group 'E' Uzbekistan v Bangladesh; United Arab Emirates v Hong Kong.
Group 'F' Maldives v Oman; Pakistan v Thailand.
