Blasts hit Qambar, Nawabshah

LARKANA, May 9: A bomb went off in the classroom of the Government High School, Qambar, on Thursday.

The sound of the blast, which occurred near the school’s science hall and created a two-foot-wide crater, was heard in most parts of Qambar spreading panic across the town.

The windows, walls and ceiling of the classroom sustained extensive damage due to the impact of the explosion but no one was injured as the school was closed. Qambar-Shahdadkot Deputy Commissioner Tahir Sangi and personnel of the police, Rangers and bomb disposal squad rushed to the scene and inspected the site soon after the blast.

SSP of the area said it was the locally made bomb weighing half a kilogram, adding that the night watchman of the school and two other persons had been taken into custody for interrogation.

Explosion in NawabshahPanic gripped Nawabshah city after an explosion was heard in different parts here on Thursday at around 7:35pm. Police, bomb disposal squad (BDS) and other law enforcement agencies searched and found a plot of land near Journalist colony at Sakrand road where the explosion occured.

Officials of BDS said a locally-made cracker weighing around 20grams had exploded and developed a pit in the ground.

Nawabshah SSP Ghulam Sarwar Bhayo told reporters that the activity was just to spread panic and fear among people.

No loss of life and property was reported.
