HARIPUR: Industrial fair opens in Haripur

HARIPUR, May 11: The annual industrial exhibition opened in Haripur on Sunday as the organizers obtained an order from a local court staying the district government’s order for its cancellation.

The tehsil municipal administration accorded approval to a private contractor to set up stalls for Rs3,000 a day.

A delegation of All Traders Federation called on district Nazim Raja Aamir Zaman and apprised him of the apprehensions of the local traders.

The traders’ team was of the opinion that the exhibitors always fleeced the visitors by selling poor-quality household items.

This exercise, according to them, always resulted in considerable loss to the tax-paying business community.

However, district Nazim Raja Aamir Zaman assured the traders that their rights will be protected, and nullified the TMA’s permission, issuing directives for immediate removal of kiosks and other fixtures set up for this purpose.

But the organizers obtained a stay order against the Nazim’s decision from the court of senior civil judge on Friday.

It is believed that following the decision of the district Nazim, a tussle between the TMA and district government that ensued after the installation of local government system, intensified.
