Demand for removal of Hyderabad BISE official

HYDERABAD, June 1: Office-bearers of Sindh Professors Lecturers Association (SPLA) and Sindh Professors Subject Specialists Association (SPSSA) have demanded removal of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Hyderabad (BISE) deputy controller because of what they described as his rude attitude and policies against education.

Addressing a press conference held on Saturday, SPLA Hyderabad region president Prof Shajahan Panhwar, general secretary Prof Mobeen-ur-Rehman and representatives of SPSSA Prof Imtiaz Shaikh and Prof Sabir Channa said teachers of all colleges would not take part in the upcoming Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Part I and II practical examinations of BISE Hyderabad to be held from June 3 for three weeks in the nine districts falling under jurisdiction of the boardHyderabad, Jamshoro, Dadu, Badin, Shaheed Benazirabad, Matiari, Thatta, Tando Mohammad Khan and Tando Allahyar.

They said that other intermediate boards of Sindh, including those of Larkana, Sukkur and Karachi, appointed both internal and external officials during the practical papers of HSC Part I and II, but only BISE Hyderabad did not appoint external officials for the last two years.

They said they had met BISE chairman Prof Engineer Abdul Aleem Khanzada and told him about appointment of external officials at examination centres. Prof Khanzada had agreed that he would appoint externals if the practice was followed by other boards, they said.

They said they held a meeting with BISE deputy controller Masroor Ahmed Zai and other representatives on Friday about appointment of externals for the upcoming practical examinations, but representatives of the board said they could not appoint external (coordinators). They said deputy controller Masroor Ahmed Zai who adopted a rude attitude in the meeting was responsible for sabotaging dialogues between the board representatives and association office-bearers.

They said this was injustice with candidates (students). They said students were deprived of external (coordinator) and only internal officials were appointed in BISE Hyderabad. They said students were left at the mercy of internal officials who alloted marks at their will.

They said this decision of the board caused unrest among students and teachers.

They said they called an emergency meeting of the association on Friday in which it was decided to boycott upcoming practical examinations and demanded removal of the deputy controller immediately for want of external officials in practical examinations.
