KHAIRPUR: Five killed, 50 injured in road accident

KHAIRPUR, May 16: Five people, including two women, were killed and 50 others injured in an accident on the National Highway, near Karimabad, Khairpur district, here on Thursday.

A Punjab-bound coach (K-5432), coming from Karachi, collided with a truck (RG-3441) as a result of which five people were killed on the spot and 50 others injured.

Those killed were identified as Saeeda Hameed, Shamshad Rind, Iqbal Hussain, and Muneer Hussain (coach driver) and an unidentified person.

Those injured included, Mohammad Arshad, son of Abdullah; Manzooran, wife of Manzoor; Liaquat Ali, son of Atta Hussain, resident of Multan; Raheem Bux, son of Allah Bux, resident of Jalalpur; Hafiz Karim Bux, son of Abdul Rehman Rind; Mohammad Zarif; Koosar Iqbal, son of Mohammad Bux, resident of Multan; Talib Hussain, son of Mohammad Hussain; Nasir Iqbal, son of Allah Dino Gujjar; Saabli Bibi, wife of Mohammad Hussain; Sameera Bibi, daughter of Shahnawaz; Mohammad Habib; Ashiq Hussain; Makhan Khan; Ali; Ali Khan; Zakia; Mrs Mohammad Nawaz; Nazar, son of Allah Wasayo; Shoukat, son of Mushtaq; Allah Dino, son of Naban Khan; Najma, wife of Fazal Rehman; Manzoor Hussain, son of Malik Peer Bux; Shahnawaz, son of Amanullah Dasti; Shahnawaz, son of Karim Bux Dasti; Ajmal, son of Ghulam Mustafa Baloch; Riaz , son of Khuda Bux; Shoala, son of Shafi Mohammad; Shahnawaz; Haji Ghulam Fareed; Ziaullah, son of Rahim Bux; Khursheed, daughter of Mohammad Ali; and Irshad Bibi, wife of Liaquat Ali.could not be ascertained.

The injured were admitted to the Civil Hospital.

Several of the injured told newsmen at the hospital that after the accident, some people took away their valuables including cash and jewellry.

They seemed to be dissatisfied over the medical facilities being provided to them at the hospital.

At least 26 of the injured have been taken to their native towns or cities by their relatives.
