SUKKUR: Explosives recovered, two held

SUKKUR, May 16: The Ghotki police arrested two outlaws and recovered a huge quantity of explosives, arms, and stolen vehicles from the Mohammad Gadani village, Khanpur Mehar, Ghotki district, on Friday.

The police raided the village and recovered 40 kgs of explosive materials, 20 grenades, three Kalashnikovs, a gun, a huge quantity of ammunition, three tractors, a car, and two motorcycles.

Police arrested the two outlaws, Ghulam Mustafa and his brother, Ali Murad, for being involved in arms smuggling.

GANG: The Sukkur Police arrested at least 12 members of a gang of car and motorcycle thieves and recovered two stolen cars and seven motorcycles from their possession on Friday.

Police said that the gang was involved in hijacking cars and motorcycles since the last many years.

The ASP, Sukkur city, Mazhar Nawaz Shaikh, while briefing the newsmen about the arrest of the gang, said that the gang leader, Haresh Kumar, was still at large.

He said that a police party, which was patrolling Sukkur on Friday morning, intercepted two men, Akhtar Tanwari and Ghulam Hussain Brohi, who were in a car and on investigation it was revealed that the car was stolen from Karachi. Both were arrested.

Later, police raided some areas and were able to arrest 10 more gang members. The names of eight were ascertained as Ali Nawaz, Zulfiqar Ali, Mujahid Shah, Liaqat Mahesar, Akbar Mahesar, Ghulam Shabbir Kalwar, Hazoor Bux and Ghulam Sarwar.

Two cars, seven motorcycles, seven pistols, a gun, and a huge quantity of ammunition was recovered from their possession.
