Sharif, Singh likely to meet in September

BRUNEI: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh are likely to meet in September on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, the premier’s Special Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said on Tuesday.

Aziz made the statement after a meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid on the sidelines of the ASEAN Summit in Brunei today.

During the meeting which lasted for 20 minutes, the two representatives discussed the terms of confidence building measures and other related negotiations.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Aziz said Prime Minister Sharif and Prime Minister Singh were likely to meet in September on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

Aziz added that India had expressed its desire to enhance bilateral relations and wished to take positive steps for improved ties between the two countries.
