Railways police assured of better wages
LAHORE, July 8: Federal Minister for Railways Khwaja Saad Rafiq said on Monday that railways police would soon be provided adequate equipment and vehicles.
Presiding over a meeting attended by Inspector General Syed Ibne Hussain, DIG Munir Ahmad Chishti, AIG (Administration) Kashif Shabbir Lali, Lahore SSP Robin Yamin and Pakistan Railways General Manager (Operations) Junaid Qureshi at the railways police central office, Mr Rafiq said a summary to bring the salaries of railways police on a par with their district counterparts would be approved shortly.
Earlier, the minister was briefed on the performance of railways police in spite of meagre resources, especially their role in nabbing commuters travelling without tickets and removal of encroachments on the railways’ land.
The minister also visited the Locomotive Workshops Mughalpura.
