Protest over murder, police attitude
MIRPURKHAS, April 21: Relatives and villagers of Girhor Shareef blocked the main Hyderabad-Mirpurkhas highway and held a demonstration here on Saturday night in front of the local press club, carrying the body of a man named Saifal Khaskheli.
Protesting against refusal of police to register their FIR against accused killers of the victim, they also burnt old tyres, suspending traffic for more than four hours.
Saifal Khaskheli had allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the second floor of a building of the district and sessions court of Mirpurkhas after being frustrated with his wife Ms Jannat.
He sustained serious injuries and was taken to the civil hospital where he was provided first aid and then referred for LMUH Hyderabad. But he died on way to the hospital.
But according to the protesters, the man had been pushed from the second floor, and he had not committed suicide.
Saifal Khaskheli and Ms Jannat had solemnised love marriage, but the accused forced her to file for divorce, they said.
They threatened to commit self-immolation and set the body on fire if their murder case was not lodged.
However, after four hours they dispersed when Deputy Commissioner of Mirpurkhas Asif Ikram intervened and held out assurance to lodge the case. Later, Mohammad Younus, brother of the deceased, lodged the murder case at the police station concerned.
