Election commission prohibits politicians from indulging in personal attacks

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan on Friday barred all politicians from indulging in personal attacks against one another, DawnNews reported.

Making personal remarks against any political personality would be a violation of the electoral code and conduct and action would be taken against violators.

Presidential spokesperson Farhatullah Babar had earlier written to the ECP requesting it to desist political parties, particularly the PML-N, from launching “political attacks” against the person of President Asif Ali Zardari.

The election commission's move follows  back to back mudslinging statements issued by politicians from different parties against each other recently.
