Big quantity of narcotics seized in Mianwali

MIANWALI, May 19: Kamarmishani police seized a big quantity of narcotics early Monday morning while five alleged smugglers managed to escape.

According to police, they received information that a group of narcotics smugglers was bringing a large quantity of contraband. The informer even told the names of the two smugglers, they added.

A heavy contingent of police waited for the smugglers at Toba Makiwala, Pucca Kamarmishani, about five kilometres off the main road, in the bushes, the whole night.

When five men, three of them unidentified, reached there, police asked them to surrender. But, they opened fire on police and disappeared in the darkness leaving behind contraband which included 90 kilograms of hashish, five kgs of opium, one kg of powdered charas, three double-barrel guns and a pistol.

The police have registered a case against Zakaullah, Khyber Khan and three unidentified men.
