‘Record’ turnout in Abbottabad

ABBOTTABAD, May 11: A ‘record’ turnout was witnessed in the elections on Saturday compared to the elections held in 2002 and 2008 in Abbottabad district.

Polling started at 292 polling stations established in NA-17, Abbottabd-I, at 8am and continued till 5pm. Some polling stations were established in far flung areas where the polling staff and election material had reached two days before the election date.

Secretary Election Commission Ishtiaq Ahmed Khan visited some polling stations in Abbottabad along with divisional administration. The police and security forces continued patrolling along the roads in different parts of the district. —Correspondent
