JUI-F leader terms Balochistan polls 'artificial and rigged'
QUETTA: Jamiat Ulema-e- Islam-F (JUI-F) Balochistan Amir, Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani has termed the recently held general elections as 'artificial and rigged.'
Maulana Sherani said ballot papers were being found in drains and different parts of Balochistan, which proves that under a pre-planned conspiracy some political forces were being brought into power.
"I fear more bloodshed in Balochistan in the days to come," the vocal Maulana told a crowded press conference at MPA hostel on Friday evening.
He said that through rigged elections, a path was being paved for sectarian, religious and linguistic conflicts in Balochistan, which is already under the grip of violence for more than 12 years.
"Efforts are on to grab incentives under Kerry-Lugar Bill by some forces," Sherani warned without taking the name of forces.
He claimed that funds under Kerry-Lugar bill would be spent against Madrassahs (religious seminaries) to promote religious and sectarian hatred among the people.
The Maulana said some youngsters would be used in the name of religion and some in the name of nationalism to maintain turmoil in the province.
He said an operation would be launched in Baloch areas against separatists and in the Pashtun belt against Taliban.
"This is what I fear when I see the intentions of rulers," he said. Sherani said all innocent and vulnerable people would be affected through this war, which would further endanger the hope for peace.
