Rs25m released for Swabi cadet college

SWABI, May 20: The government has released Rs25 million for the construction of captain Sher Shaheed (Nishan-i-Haider) cadet college and the remaining Rs275 million will be sanctioned in the coming months.

Sources in the communications and works department told Dawn on Tuesday that Corps Commander Lt-Gen Ali Ahmad Jan Orakzai was expected to lay the foundation stone of the college in the last week of the current month or the first week of June.

Chief of Army Staff Gen Pervez Musharraf had announced the establishment of the college on Aug 20, 1999.

The people of Ismalia have given 500 kanals free of cost for the college. Sources said the PC-1 of the project has been finalized.

Sources said the construction of the Kernel Sher chowk would also begin soon.

A number  of  politicians and philanthropists demanded that seats should be reserved for the students of Swabi in the college, sources said.

LOADSHEDDING: Unscheduled loadshedding continued unabated in the far-flung areas of the district, causing problems to the people.
